What if I just loved you?

Didn’t try to change you

didn't try to make you love me back

didn’t worry about being taken advantage of

being overlooked

lost

forgotten

wasted.

What if I trusted you

to mean what you say,

believed you

the first time,

took you at

your broken word?

Would my love bear fruit?

or would I find myself

haggard and parched

drained of every last drop of self

I have?

Are you worth that risk?

the loss of me?

Eleven years ago

you thought I was worth it.
